On Sunday evening, former Prime Minister of India Dr Manmohan Singh was admitted at the cardiothoracic department of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), following complaints of chest pain and uneasiness. He was admitted at around 8.45 pm.

He was taken to the hospital as he had a fever due to the side effect of the medication given yesterday. He is under observation.”
AIIMS has not released any statement regarding the former PM’s condition.
As per reports, the former PM is stable. Journalist Pallavi Ghosh has informed that he was admitted for investigation after redeveloped a febrile reaction to a new medication. He is kept under observation to rule out any other causes of the fever.

He is one of the senior-most leaders of the Congress party. Prior to becoming the PM, Dr Singh was the finance minister in the PV Narasimha Rao government from 1991 to 1996. Prior to that, he served as the Chief Economic Advisor (1972-76) and as the Governor of the Reserve Bank from 1982 to 1985. He was also the head of the Planning Commission from 1985 to 1987.
Political leaders from across the spectrum have wished Dr Singh a speedy recovery and have prayed for his health.
