On January 15, a Yeti Airlines’ two-engine aircraft twin-engine ATR 72 crashed while travelling from Kathmandu to Pokhara caught fire while landing and crashed. As per reports, there were 72 passengers onboard, including 10 foreign nationals, two infants and four crew members. So far, 68 have been confirmed as dead. Pokhara is known as the most dangerous airport in the world.
Reuters reports that hundreds of rescue workers have indulged in the rescue operations. Krishna Bhandari, an Army Spokesman, said, “We expect to recover more bodies. The plane has broken into pieces.”
Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has called an emergency cabinet meeting and urged the state agencies to work on the rescue operations.
