The former Finance Minister P Chidambaram likened pakoda sellers to beggars in a tweet criticizing the government’s job creation record. He had been tweeting about various loopholes in the government’s claims of job creation. He said that it was not possible to create jobs with an investment of 43,000 loan obtained through Mudra scheme in a series of tweets.
The former finance minister was talking about his column where he sought to puncture the study on PF data which unravelled 70 lakh new jobs. A failed attempt in this endeavor was made by his colleague Jairam Ramesh before him. We had debunked Jairam Ramesh’s article earlier.
‘Cattle class’, ‘chaiwallah’, ‘neech’ and now, ‘beggars’
The Congress party has an inherent contempt for those who earn their livelihood with hardwork and effort. Unless the section of society belongs to certain ‘vote bank’, the party does not respect them or their labor. The trend was set by Shashi Tharoor when he claimed to be flying cattle class when he was flying economy class as a minister.
Later, Mani Shankar Aiyer said that Modi can’t be Prime Minister, but he can sell chai at AICC meet. Sadly for him, the “cattle class” elected Modi as PM. He called him ‘neech kisam ka aadmi’ in the runup to Gujarat polls. Congress lost in Gujarat state polls again. Now, Mr Chidambaram has joined the bandwagon which is essentially a part of Congress culture.
After all, how can parasites who feast on taxpayers money ever be grateful to the vegetable seller, barber, garbage collectors, security guards, newspaper-man, bus conductors, and other people who work for a living. A job is a job if the person gets paid for his work/product. Whether it is a high paying job or a low paying job is a debatable topic.
The Congress party has repeatedly claimed that it works for the common man. But, the question is how can it work for common people and poor if it does not respect them in the first place? We, as a society need to respect everyone no matter what job they do, or what social strata they belong to. It would be great if the Congress learns as soon as possible. Maybe Rahul Gandhi, who “wears a torn kurta”, can educate his senior ministers about dignity of labor.
