BJP President Amit Shah has today stated that he will definitely go to Kolkata to address the BJP Yuva Morcha rally and stated that the West Bengal government can arrest him if they want.

Amit Shah is scheduled to address the BJP Yuva Morcha rally in Kolkata on 11th August. However, the BJP Yuva Morcha had earlier today stated that they are yet to receive permission from the Kolkata Police for holding the rally. Yuva Morcha State President Debjit Sarkar had reportedly informed media that they had submitted a formal application to the police for permission but are yet to receive any communication from them. He had added that the Yuva Morcha would go to the court if the state police refuse to grant them permission.
However, soon after Amit Shah’s statement, the Kolkata police have issued a statement clarifying that they have already granted the permission for the rally.

The Mamata Banerjee led Trinamool Congress and BJP are at political loggerheads over several issues. The recently concluded panchayat elections saw widespread violence and since then many BJP workers in the state have been killed allegedly by TMC goons. Yesterday, after the publication of the National Register for Citizenship list in the state of Assam, Mamata Banerjee has been giving inflammatory statements against BJP leadership and threatening of dire consequences. 40 lakh people in Assam do not have their names on the list that classifies any immigrants who came to India after March 24, 1971, as ‘illegal immigrants’. The BJP has made its stand clear that NRC list is in accordance with the Supreme Court directions and political parties sympathising with illegal immigrants are putting national security at risk. He asserted that the central government is committed to implementing the NRC list to the last full stop.
