In an unprecedented incident, the Central Bureau of investigations(CBI) has reportedly raided their own headquarters today, as reported by Times Now.
As per reports, the CBI has booked its own special director, the Number 2 man in its administrative hierarchy, Rakesh Asthana in a bribery case involving meat trader Moin Qureshi. In an FIR that was filed last week, Asthana’s name reportedly features as accused number 1. RAW special director Sumant Kumar Goel is also reportedly named in the FIR but not as an accused.

The CBI has reportedly put telephone intercepts, WhatsApp messages, money trail and statements before the magistrate under section 164. The investigating agency had reportedly informed the Central Vigilance Commission on September 21 that it is probing Asthana on six different cases of corruption. Reacting to it, Asthana had reportedly written to the government that the director of CBI, Alok Verma is trying to hinder his functioning and malign his image.
Today, the CBI has also arrested its own official DSP Devender Kumar, who was the investigating officer in Moin Qureshi case. It has been alleged that Kumar has forged the statement of one Satish Sana, who had claimed that he had paid bribes to settle the case against him. Sana was also an accused in the Moin Qureshi case. Dubai based investment banker Manoj Prasad, Somesh Prasad and several others have also been named in the FIR. Sana has complained that since last year, he has paid Rs 3 crores in bribes to the CBI special director.
It is notable here that meat trader Moin Qureshi was raided by Income Tax department in 2014 and his Blackberry Messenger communications with the former CBI director AP Singh had led to the latter resigning from his post in UPSC.
