AAP propagandist tweets false claim about Adani Group, deletes due to fear of defamation

AAP propagandist Dhruv Rathee

Aam Aadmi Party propagandist Dhruv Rathee was again caught lying and making fake claims on Adani Group. Yesterday, Rathee tweeted an image of a forest in Chhattisgarh claiming that Prime Minister Modi ‘sold off’ 1,70,000 hectares of most dense forest in India to Adani.

However, Adani Group took to Twitter to call out Rathee’s lies. In a tweet last night, Adani Group strongly objected to the factually incorrect tweet which made malicious claims against the company. “We have not acquired the referred piece of land nor has the government sold it to us. We do not own any mine in Chhattisgarh,” Adani Group tweeted. Threatened with legal action, Rathee deleted his tweet.

This is not the first time AAP propagandists were forced to delete their tweets because of their false claims against Adani. Last month, in wake of Pulwama attacks, Delhi’s education minister, Manish Sisodia, had made a false claim that Adani Group was supplying electricity to Pakistan. However, when Adani Group called out his lies, Sisodia deleted the tweet quietly without clarifying or apologising for the fake news.

Rathee himself is not new to spreading fake information. In October last year, he was sued for defamation to the tune of Rs. 15 Lakhs by a software engineer and BJP volunteer Vikas Pandey.
