Having faced tough competition from the BJP in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has resorted to blaming the EVMs for the loss of seats. She accused the BJP of using money power and tampering the EVMs. Despite the accusations, TMC workers were caught rigging the elections themselves. The party is also blamed for the poll violence in the state, the violence had even forced the Election Commission to cut short the election campaign.

Rahul Gandhi, instead of introspecting Congress parties massive defeat in the elections, is planning to lead a nation-wide stir against the Modi government questioning the authenticity of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). Sonia Gandhi had also alleged the BJP for manipulating the EVMs while addressing a thanksgiving rally. NCP chief Sharad Pawar previously resorted to scaremongering and predicted riots over the EVMs.
