Leading Islamic seminary Jamat-e-Ulema Hind has put the blame on the Congress Party for the incidents of mob lynching across the country and not the BJP, as the popular narrative goes, as reported by Zee News.
Jamat-e-Ulema Hind’s National President Moulana Suhaib Qasmi, while addressing a press briefing in Guwahati today said that it is not the BJP or the RSS that is responsible for the incidents of lynching but the Congress.
Qasmi held Congress responsible for the lynchings in different parts of the country. He said that the party should be questioned for the cases of lynching that were reported during its rule. “If a high-level investigation is conducted, it will be cleared”, said Qasmi.
Recently there has been a spate of reports where Muslim men have been asked to chant ‘Jai Shree Ram’ and thrashed. Several of these cases have turned out to be fake.
Recently a Congress Councillor Aslam Cyclewala of Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) was booked by the police in connection with a rampage that occurred in Athwa lines area of Surat city in Gujarat. During the incident, an unruly mob of protestors who were taking out a rally against the alleged lynching of Tabrez Ansari in Jharkhand had pelted stones at the police. Cyclewala was booked under section 307 of the IPC.
Another Congress leader Shamsher Alam has also been named in the police FIR in Ranchi after a violent mob tried to torch a bus during the protests against Tabrez Ansari’s death.
