The body of 22-year-old Saketh Sreenivasaiah, a UC Berkeley master’s student from Karnataka, was found in California after a six-day search. The Indian Consulate is coordinating with local authorities to repatriate his remains while police investigate the cause of death.
The couple claimed repeated harassment by faculty, dismissal of complaints, and exclusionary food rules affecting South Asian students, arguing that the university’s response exposed the gap between diversity rhetoric and lived experiences of international scholars.
