Jack Dorsey under investigation for potential falsities in his testimony about censorship on Twitter

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey

According to The Federalist, the House Energy and Commerce Committee is reviewing whether Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey gave false statements under oath during his testimony before the committee in September. It is a federal crime to provide false testimony to Congress.

The hearing was about Twitter’s alleged arbitrary censorship of content published on the site. Conservatives have often accused the platform of discrimination and silencing their voices to favour the progressives. Twitter is known to suspend Conservative accounts with an alarming frequency.

“The committee is aware of Twitter’s actions and is currently reviewing Mr Dorsey’s testimony,” an aide working for the committee aide told The Federalist after Twitter suddenly banned Jesse Kelly, a Marine combat veteran, writer, and popular radio talk show host, without explanation.

An aide working for the committee provided a statement to Breitbart News also confirming the development. It is unclear whether it is the same aide who leaked the news to The Federalist.

The statement to Breitbart News states:

“The committee is aware of Twitter’s actions and is currently reviewing Mr. Dorsey’s testimony. However, Twitter has not yet provided responses to members’ questions for the record, despite an October 15th deadline. It is important that Congress receive this requested information to ensure we are able to properly perform our oversight responsibilities. We believe Twitter and other tech companies should be forthright with Congress and the American people in an effort to shed light on often opaque rules and processes. Transparency and trust are essential components of our increasingly digital communication channels.”

“I want to start by making something very clear,” Dorsey had testified on September 5, 2018. “We don’t consider political viewpoints, perspectives, or party affiliation in any of our policies or enforcement decisions, period.” “Our policies and our algorithms don’t take into consideration any affiliation, philosophy, or viewpoint,” Dorsey said again later in the hearing.

Twitter’s ‘hateful conduct’ policy reveals a definite progressive bias. The platform has now banned ‘misgendering’ and ‘deadnaming’ after modifying its policy. ‘Misgendering’ means referring to a transgender person with the ‘wrong pronouns’, that is, pronouns that the person hasn’t chosen for himself or herself. ‘Deadnaming’ refers to addressing a transgender person by their pre-transition name. These are extreme radical leftist ideas which are not endorsed by even mainstream leftists. Feminist Meghan Murphy was banned from Twitter for saying men aren’t women. Under such circumstances, it will be very hard for Jack Dorsey to argue that Twitter does not discriminate against common sense mainstream conservative beliefs.

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey has been having a bad time lately. He created a furore in India by posing with a placard that declared ‘Smash Brahminical Patriarchy’, an extremist Leftist trope of demonizing an entire community. Twitter India’s legal head apologized profusely to everyone for hurting their sentiments. As a platform, Twitter appears to fully embrace the ideology of Postmodernism. A local court in Jodhpur, Rajasthan has also admitted a plea against Dorsey over the anti-Brahmin placard.
