On 23rd March (Monday), a Hindu girl charged that some young Muslim men harassed and hit her during her religious journey. She had joined a walking pilgrimage (padyatra) to the Mahakali Mandir on Pavagadh Hill from South Gujarat’s Valsad. The shocking incident occurred only a few kilometres prior to arriving at the sacred site.
“I was walking towards Pavagadh, which is about 6 kilometres from here. Some Vidharmi (Gujarati term commonly used for Muslims) boys were driving very fast back and forth and were troubling me. They struck me forcefully on my arm and then departed. They may find it funny, but this is not right when someone is travelling like this. If you cannot help someone, that’s fine, but at least don’t assault anyone like this,” she disclosed.
The young woman’s journey started on 9th March, and she has been posting daily updates on her Instagram account with glimpses of her padyatra. With nearly 70,000 likes and over 2,400 comments, the video has already gone viral on Instagram. The girl later informed that she performed the darshan, concluded her trip and returned home in spite of the alarming occurrence.
The Gujarat Police has responded to the viral video, stating that they have taken cognisance of the issue and have spoken to the victim.

“Immediate action has been taken regarding the video that went viral on social media on 22/03/2026. The concerned woman has been contacted and advised to file a complaint. The location of the incident has been verified”, Panchmahal Police posted on X.
