In the early hours of Thursday (26th March), a tragic road accident occurred near Rayavaram in Andhra Pradesh’s Markapuram district, wherein a private bus collided with a tipper lorry loaded with gravel, leaving at least 13 people dead. The collision caused a massive fire, trapping 41 passengers.
Speaking to the media, Markapuram District In-charge Collector P. Raja Babu said, “Out of 41 passengers in the bus, 13 persons died on the spot, and their bodies were collected. Among 25 injured persons admitted to the Government Hospital in Markapuram, 10 suffered severe injuries, and five were in critical condition. The five critical persons will be shifted to Guntur GGH.”
The Harikrishna Travels-owned bus was travelling from Telangana’s Nirmal to Vinjamuru in Andhra Pradesh’s Nellore district when the accident occurred.
