On Wednesday, 1st April, US President Donald Trump warned that Iran would be pushed “back to the stone age” as he outlined plans to step up military action, even while saying the war is close to ending.

In a televised address from the White House, Trump said the US campaign, called Operation Epic Fury, has already achieved major progress and is now nearing completion. He told Americans that the war may last only another two to three weeks and assured them that the US is “going to finish the job very fast.”
Despite this promise of a quick end, Trump made it clear that the coming weeks would see stronger attacks. He said US forces would “hit extremely hard” to complete their mission fully. According to him, the aim is to permanently stop Iran from projecting power outside its borders and ensure it never gets a nuclear weapon.
Trump repeated that from the very start of Operation Epic Fury, the goal has been to continue until all objectives are met. He added that the US is now “on track” to wrap up those goals shortly, but warned that Iran would face heavy consequences before that happens.
Overall, while Trump is confident that the war is nearly over, his strong warning about bringing Iran to the “stone age” highlighted that the final phase could be the most intense.
