A 29-year-old Saudi prince’s death in London was caused by an alcohol and drug overdose. As per reports, the coroner’s inquest into the death of Prince Abdullah bin Fahad bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Jalawi Al Saud in November last year has revealed that the prince had excessive amounts of alcohol, the party drug GHB and other narcotic substances in his blood, in fatal doses.
Prince Abdullah bin Fahad bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Jalawi Al Saud was found dead on the bathroom floor of his expensive suite room in the Marriott Hotel in Kensington, London, on November 25, 2025. He had checked in on November 19 and was booked for a week-long stay. He was last seen alive in CCTV footage on November 24, where he had stepped out to smoke a cigarette. The next day, a hotel cleaner had found him unresponsive on the bathroom floor, fully clothed. Paramedics had tried to revive him, but he was already dead.
After a long medical and forensic inquest, Assistant Coroner Jean Harkin has reported it as a death by misadventure, citing the medical cause as multi-drug ingestion leading to cardiac arrest, with no evidence of suicidal intent or third-party involvement.
Toxicology reports of the prine showed a blood alcohol concentration of 222 mg per 100 ml, over 3 times the permissible driving limit. Medical experts have stated that the alcohol concentration alone was enough to induce a coma. Potentially fatal concentrations of gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB), along with other prescription drugs like Xanax, some anti-anxiety medications and cannabis were also found in his body.
The coroner’s report has added that investigations revealed that the prince had a history of drug abuse and alcohol addiction, combined with a dependency on prescription drugs. In August 2025 he was admitted to the Priory Clinic in Roehampton for detoxification from alcohol, benzodiazepines, and pregabalin. He was also treated further at the Rainford Hall Clinic in Merseyside, recovering from an upper respiratory tract infection before leaving on October 14, 2025.
The coroner also noted the absence of a suicide note, any expressed suicidal thoughts, or evidence of external involvement, with CCTV confirming he was alone in his final hours.
The prince was a descendant of the great-great-grandfather of King Salman.
