Burned with cigarettes, brutally beaten, and forced into abortion: Ehtesham gang-rapes Meerut woman after luring her with promise of marriage

A shocking case has emerged from Meerut in Uttar Pradesh, where a young woman was allegedly lured with the promise of marriage, sexually exploited, held captive, and gang-raped.

The victim has alleged that she was beaten, burned with cigarettes, and threatened with the circulation of obscene videos recorded by the accused. Seeking justice, she approached the SSP of Meerut, after which the police began a detailed investigation.

Deceit that began on a matrimonial site

The victim, a resident of Pallavpuram, said she had created a profile on a matrimonial website a few months ago. There she came in contact with a man named Ehtesham, a resident of Sardhana. He introduced himself as an employee of a large telecom company in Prayagraj and won her trust by promising marriage.

They first met at Begumpul in Meerut. On December 27, 2025, he called her to Prayagraj, took her to his room, and allegedly raped her for the first time.

Fake marriage document and forced abortion

According to the victim, when she protested, the accused promised to marry her soon. In the meantime, she became pregnant. When she pressured him for marriage, he took her to Varanasi on February 2, 2026, and allegedly got a “fake” nikahnama (marriage document) prepared on a ₹100 stamp paper.

She further alleged that later, under the pretext of taking her for an ultrasound, the accused gave her some intoxicating substance, which led to her miscarriage.

Captivity, gang rape, and brutality in Lucknow

The crime did not stop there. On February 12, the accused took her to a hotel in Charbagh, Lucknow, where he allegedly raped her again. The next day, after giving her an intoxicant, she was taken to an unknown house, where Ehtesham and two of his friends allegedly held her captive and gang-raped her.

The victim said that when she resisted, she was burned with cigarettes and brutally beaten. The accused also allegedly recorded videos of the assault and used them to threaten her.

Police action and investigation

On February 14, the accused took her to Delhi, from where she somehow managed to escape and reached Kashmiri Gate police station. However, the Delhi Police reportedly told her that the case pertained to Uttar Pradesh and sent her back.

Now, Meerut SP City Ayush Vikram Singh has said that the complaint is extremely serious. Since the case is linked to Prayagraj, Varanasi, and Lucknow, the police are verifying the crime scenes and the authenticity of the alleged nikahnama. The police have assured that the accused will be arrested soon.
