In a worrying turn of events following the firing incident outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence, Bollywood star Ranveer Singh has received a threatening message demanding crores of rupees. The threat was sent via a WhatsApp voice note, prompting immediate concern and swift action from the authorities.
After receiving the message, Ranveer Singh informed the Mumbai Police, following which security outside his residence was significantly tightened. The police have launched an investigation to trace the sender of the threatening voice note and determine whether it is linked to the recent shooting incident.
Five rounds were fired outside Rohit Shetty’s house
It may be recalled that on the night of January 31, unidentified assailants fired five rounds outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s home. Fortunately, no one was injured in the attack. Mumbai Police and the Crime Branch have been probing the case, and so far, five accused have been arrested.
During the investigation, police revealed that one of the key accused, Asaram Fasale, who allegedly supplied the weapons, had been working as a garage mechanic as a cover while secretly operating for the Bishnoi gang for the past four years.
Salman Khan threatened by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang
This is not the first time a Bollywood celebrity has been targeted. Earlier, firing had also taken place outside actor Salman Khan’s residence, an attack that was later linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, raising serious concerns about the safety of high-profile figures in the film industry.
Ranveer Singh in the spotlight
Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh has been making headlines on the professional front as well. He was recently seen in the film Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar, where he played the role of Hamza, an Indian spy. The film turned out to be a massive box office success, and its sequel is slated for release on March 19.
However, Ranveer is also embroiled in a controversy over his reported exit from Don 3. Recent reports claimed that the film was shelved after his sudden departure, causing heavy losses to the studio. It is being said that Excel Entertainment has demanded ₹40 crore from Ranveer as compensation. The actor, however, has maintained that he is not liable to pay any such amount to the production house.
With the threat message now added to the mix, the situation has taken a serious turn, and Mumbai Police are working to establish whether these incidents are connected or part of a broader extortion racket targeting Bollywood celebrities.
