Kajal Chaudhary, a 27-year-old SWAT Commando with Delhi Police, has been beaten to death by her husband. As per reports, Kajal was 4 months pregnant. Her husband had battered her with a dumbbell over dowry demands that had been ongoing since their wedding in November 2023.
Kajal’s brother Nikhil has stated that he received a call from his sister, in which he could hear her screams on January 22. Five minutes later, he got another call from Kajal’s husband, telling him that he was killing Kajal. Nikhil further informed that Kajal’s husband and in-laws have been harassing her for dowry since the wedding. Kajal was at her marital house in Delhi’s Mohan Garden area on January 22 when the incident happened. Nikhil is also employed with the Delhi Police as a constable.

Kajal was admitted to a hospital in Ghaziabad, where she finally succumbed to her injuries on January 27. Her husband Ankur, is employed as a clerk in the Defence Ministry, posted in the Delhi Cantonment.
Kajal’s brother Nikhil has added that over the phone, Ankur had claimed that he is killing Kajal and police can’t do anything. The police have stated that on the day of the assault, Ankur first banged Kajal’s head on a door frame, before battering her head and body with a dumbbell. Ankur has been arrested on charges of murder and assault.
