Draft electoral roll for Kerala after SIR: 24 lakh names removed, dead, migrated, and untraceable people dropped

Under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), about 24 lakh voters have been removed from the draft electoral roll of Kerala released by the Election Commission of India (ECI) on 23rd December. Now, the draft electoral roll has 2.54 crore voters.

The removed 24,08,503 voters are those who are marked in the Absent, Shifted, Dead (ASD) list. This list has been published alongside the draft electoral roll. In the ASD list, 6,45,548 are listed as ‘untraceable/absent’. The list also mentions 8,16,221 as ‘permanently shifted’. Meanwhile, 1,60,830 are in the ‘others’ category. This category includes those who have refused to accept or return the enumeration forms. The list further mentions 6,49,885 dead voters and 1,36,029 duplicated names.

In all, there are 2,54,42,352 valid voters in Kerala, including 1,30,58,731 female voters, 1,23,83,341 male voters, and 280 transgender voters.

Meanwhile, in Madhya Pradesh, out of the total 5.31 crore voters, 31.51 lakh were found to have shifted, and 8.46 lakh were dead. In addition, the revision found 2.77 lakh voters to be enrolled at multiple places.

In Chhattisgarh, out of 1.84 crore enumeration forms collected, 6,42,234 were found to be deceased; 19,13,540 shifted, and 1,79,043 enrolled at multiple places.

In Andaman and Nicobar, 2.46 lakh enumeration forms were received during the SIR exercise. The ASD list released by the ECI listed 9,191 voters dead, 51,906 shifted, and 2,917 enrolled at multiple places. In all, 64,000 names were deleted from the draft electoral roll.
