Mumbai: Safiq and other goons belonging to Samajwadi Party barge into the home of a family, brutally attack a teenage girl following BMC election results

Tension broke out in Ward No. 134 of Rafiq Nagar in Govandi, part of Mumbai’s suburban district, following the declaration of the Maharashtra municipal corporation election results on Friday (16th January). A local family was attacked by a group of Samajwadi Party (SP) goons shortly after the results were announced, leading to serious injuries and fresh political controversy in the area.

According to a video posted by Hindustani media, the violence began when he was playing a small DJ setup outside his house, similar to other celebrations taking place in the locality. He said that Safiq, his elder brother Tauheed, and around 18–20 others suddenly arrived at his home and launched a direct attack.

The victim claimed that the group forcefully entered the premises and assaulted his family members. During the attack, his 16-year-old sister was kicked in the stomach. The girl, who is already undergoing medical treatment for an existing illness, reportedly fainted after the assault. She was immediately rushed to Rajawadi Hospital, where she is currently admitted.

The victim said videos of the attack are available and that all those involved would be named in a police complaint. He also stated that an FIR would be filed against everyone responsible for the violence.

Atiquee Ahmed condemns attack, promises legal action

Reacting to the incident, AIMIM leader Atiquee Ahmed, who won the civic election from the Govandi area, strongly condemned the attack. Ahmed defeated Samajwadi Party leader Abu Asim Azmi in a fiercely contested election and described the violence as unacceptable and politically motivated.

Speaking to reporters, Ahmed said He made it clear they’re not letting this slide. “If someone becomes a goon against goons, then they will become goons with pens. We are very strict against goons, and we will not leave them.” Atiquee plans legal action and said the celebration can wait – first, justice.

Ahmed also said he was on his way to Rajawadi Hospital to meet the injured and ensure proper medical care, adding that law and order must be maintained irrespective of election results.
