AIMIM leader Ajfarul Haq arrested in Mumbai for ‘love trap’ and forced conversion racket targeting around 300 Hindu women in Uttar Pradesh

A disturbing case has surfaced from the Basti district of Uttar Pradesh, where a local leader of AIMIM has been arrested for running a long-term trap targeting young Hindu women. The accused, Ajfarul Haq, also known as Prince, was taken into custody from Bandra in Mumbai after a woman filed a detailed complaint accusing him and his family of sexual assault and forced religious conversion.

Police registered an FIR at Kotwali police station against Prince and eight others under serious charges, including gang rape and forced conversion. After his arrest, Prince was sent to jail, while police teams began widening the probe to identify other people linked to the network.

Love trap by posing as a Hindu

According to the victim, who is from the Kalwari police station area, she first met Prince in January 2022. He introduced himself as a Hindu, wore a sacred thread on his hand, and gained her trust by promising her a job and marriage. Over time, he sexually exploited her by repeatedly assuring her of marriage.

When the woman later went to Prince’s house to confront him, she was assaulted by Prince, along with his brother and other family members. She told police that when her family raised objections, they were threatened and harassed, and her brother was even kidnapped when they tried to protest.

Claims of a large-scale conversion racket

The victim shared more shocking details during questioning. She told police that Prince and his relatives had used the same method to trap around 300 Hindu girls. By pretending to follow Hindu customs, they trapped women, recorded objectionable videos, and then pressured them to change their religion.

According to her statement, there was a plan to push some of these girls into prostitution and send them abroad. Family members of the accused were actively involved at every stage.

As the case drew wider attention, Superintendent of Police Abhinandan was transferred to Saharanpur, and Yashveer Singh was appointed as the new SP of Basti to speed up the investigation.

The sudden transfer has sparked discussion in the district, with many linking it to the sensitive nature of the case and the initial delay in police action.

Yashveer Singh, known for his strict approach, has taken charge. Police say the investigation is ongoing and the authorities are examining social media accounts and contacts linked to Prince to uncover the wider network and ensure justice for the victim.
