On Sunday (8th February), Kuki terrorists set fire to more than 20 houses belonging to the Tangkhul Naga community. The incident occurred in Litan village in the Ukhrul district of Manipur.
In visuals that have surfaced on social media, the houses of the victims could be seen in a burning state. Reportedly, Kuki terrorists assaulted a member of the Tangkhul Naga community, identified as Sterling, after accusing him to pointing a torchlight on their faces.
They assaulted the victim, which resulted in serious injuries. Sterling was thereafter rushed to a local hospital for immediate medical attention.
Following the incident, the local administration imposed a curfew in the Litan village and put prohibitive restrictions on movement and activities.

At the same time, a large contingent of security forces, including 4 columns of Assam Rifles, 2 additional companies of CAPF, 4 columns of the 8 Bihar Regiment and forces of the 4th Mahar Regiment, were deployed in the region.
The Tangkhul Naga community has accused the local police of working in tandem with Kuki terrorists. In the meantime, belonging to the Tangkhul Naga community demanded the handover of the accused involved in the assault and arson attacks.
However, he Kuki Students’ Organisation (KSO) released a statement claiming that the matter was resolved peacefully through customary mechanisms. These claims were rubbished by the Katho Katamnao Long (KKL), which stated that no concrete steps were taken to resolve the situation.
It has come to light that the demands of the villagers were not met, and the residence of the village chief and the house of the Kuki terrorist, who assaulted Sterling, were attacked.
