US President Donald Trump on Wednesday said the United States will push for a complete halt to uranium enrichment in Iran while initiating discussions on tariff reductions and sanctions relief, following a recently announced ceasefire involving the US, Israel and Iran.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump stated that Washington would “work closely with Iran” in the aftermath of the conflict and claimed that several elements of a broader agreement had already been finalised. He asserted that there would be “no enrichment of uranium” and that the US would use B-2 bombers along with Iran to locate and remove what he described as “deeply buried nuclear ‘dust’”, referring to remnants of Iran’s nuclear infrastructure following recent strikes.
Trump added that Iranian nuclear sites remain under continuous satellite surveillance and claimed that “nothing has been touched from the date of the attack”, indicating ongoing monitoring of the facilities.
He also said that economic measures would be part of the next phase of engagement, confirming that discussions are underway on easing tariffs and sanctions. According to Trump, “many of the 15 points” of a proposed framework agreement have already been agreed upon, though no further details were provided.
Separately, Trump warned that any country supplying military equipment to Iran would face a 50 per cent tariff on goods exported to the United States.
His remarks came hours after a ceasefire was announced between the US, Israel and Iran. However, reports of sporadic attacks continued after the agreement. Israel also clarified that the ceasefire does not apply to its ongoing conflict with Hezbollah in Lebanon, with strikes reported in central Beirut on Wednesday, according to Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency.
