Speaking at the concluding session of the D-3 (Digital Democracy Dialogue) ‘Triveni’ programme, the chief minister shared how the issue first came to his attention. According to him, a senior police officer informed him that around 120 acres of land belonging to the Uttar Pradesh Police had not been recovered despite being earmarked for the forensic institute.
DGP raised the issue before retirement
Recalling the incident, Adityanath said that shortly before retiring, the then Director General of Police (DGP) brought a file to him and pointed out that the police department’s land had been occupied by a mafia don. The chief minister said he immediately took an interest in the matter, calling it one of his favourite subjects.
He said the influence of the mafia had become so strong during previous governments that even the police could not reclaim their own land. However, after the Yogi government’s bulldozer policy came into force, the land was surrendered and recovered. The State Forensic Institute has now been built on that site.
UP defence corridor attracts major investments
During his interaction with content creators at the event, Adityanath also spoke about Uttar Pradesh’s growing defence manufacturing sector. He said BrahMos missiles are now being produced in Lucknow under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The chief minister stated that the state government provided nearly 200 acres of land free of cost for the project. He stressed that national security is more important than the value of the land and said the state would benefit through tax collections once production reaches full capacity.
According to him, the BrahMos project is expected to generate around Rs 135 crore in Goods and Services Tax (GST) revenue every year. The facility has an annual production target of nearly 150 missiles.
Adityanath also said that the UP Defence Corridor has received investment proposals worth around Rs 35,000 crore. This is significantly higher than the initial estimate of Rs 20,000 crore to Rs 25,000 crore.
Content creators can help connect society with facts
The chief minister said content creators are not just making digital content but can also play an important role in shaping public opinion and connecting people with facts.
He noted that standing by the truth is not always easy, but in the end, truth prevails. He added that positive results can be achieved when individuals understand and perform their responsibilities sincerely.
News and opinions should remain separate
Talking about the role of the media, Adityanath said news should be presented in an objective manner. He emphasised that personal opinions should not be mixed with news reports and that there should be a clear distinction between factual reporting and individual views.
