Forced conversion, captivity, death threats over property and more: Hindu youth trapped by a Muslim woman in UP’s Shamli after Ayush Malik case

In the wake of the Ayush Malik conversion case in Uttar Pradesh’s Shamli, a new incident of religious conversion has emerged, involving a 22-year-old young man named Kartik, also known as Bhanu, of Kheda Bhau village, which is in the same area. His family charged that their only son has been trapped by a Muslim girl named Alisha from Nanauta for more than a year. The two are reportedly schoolmates.

They stated that she has taken him away and he is being kept at a secret place. She also wants to occupy their property and has issued death threats to them. The family asserted that maulvis from Nanauta and Deoband are also part of this conspiracy. They have sought assistance from Swami Yashvir Maharaj, the chief of the Sadhana Peeth Ashram.

The distressed family disclosed to receive a phone call from the accused a month ago to inform them that their son was no longer a Hindu and had embraced Islam. He was adhering to Islamic traditions, including performing namaz. They mentioned that Kartik expressed a desire to return home during the conversation.

However, he is not allowed to talk to them. The family conveyed that they were subjected to abuses and insults by the caller, who boasted that Kartik obeys her commands. The call recording is in their possession. Furthermore, they are being pressured to transfer ownership of 35 bighas of land and other assets to the girl; otherwise, they will be killed. The family has been unsuccessfully trying to meet their son for the past year and a half.

Yashvir Maharaj urged the Shamli police administration to handle the situation with the utmost seriousness and to take action against the offenders. He warned that failure to act would result in a sit-in protest outside the girl’s home. The police have yet to file an FIR in response to the complaint. On 1st July (Wednesday), the family formally approached the Superintendent of Police and submitted an application requesting their son’s safety and action against the perpetrator.

It is important to highlight that a similar incident recently emerged in Shamli when a young man named Ayush Malik was enticed into a romantic relationship by a Muslim woman named Chandni Qureshi and later converted to Islam, which led to protests from his family members and the arrest of the accused. Ayush has since reverted to his original faith.
