A cabinet meeting convened in Lucknow under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath resulted in several key decisions. 28 proposals were accepted out of 29 after their review. The government has given the green light to the UP-Data Centre Policy-2026, which is projected to attract investments of ₹2 lakh crore to the state and generate employment for 50,000 individuals.
It aims to position the state as the first AI-ready hub of data centres in the country. This initiative will likely create numerous job opportunities in the IT and engineering sectors. The scheme will provide 7,500 permanent posts with an additional 50,000 jobs available during the construction phase.

The Uttar Pradesh cabinet has sanctioned the establishment of the “UP Startup Mission” to support innovation and entrepreneurship. A fund amounting to ₹1,000 crore has been allocated for this, with AKTU (Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University) contributing ₹400 crore. The mission will be led by the chief secretary of the state. Additionally, an annual grant of ₹40 lakh will be granted for the operation of incubators.
Approval has been given for the “CM Risk Livestock Insurance Management Scheme” intended for livestock owners. Livestock will now be covered against illnesses or accidents. Farmers will only need to pay 15 per cent of the premium. The government has even set the insured value of a Murrah buffalo at ₹75,000.
The cabinet has approved “Maharishi Yogi International Agricultural University”, which will be located in Bilhaur. Furthermore, new universities will be founded in Fatehpur and Ghaziabad. The government has also admitted a recommendation to rename the town of Jalalabad in Shahjahanpur as Parshurampuri after central government nod.
A budget of ₹14,988.50 crore has been sanctioned for the three-tier Panchayat system. This amount will be directed towards the development of villages and the payment of honorariums alongside allowances to Panchayat representatives. A submission related to madrasas has been deferred for the time being.
