On 8th June, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced the government will launch a massive Yamuna Cleanliness Campaign on 14th June. The drive will encompass clean-up and awareness programmes planned at several ghats across the national capital.
More than 500 NGOs, religious, educational, and voluntary organisations are set to participate in the campaign. The Delhi government described the Yamuna Cleanliness Campaign as a way to bolster public participation in environmental conservation and river-cleaning initiatives.
Delhi Police, Municipal Corporation of Delhi, Health Department, and other concerned authorities have been directed to ramp up measures for sanitation, security, traffic management, drinking water, and emergency services, ahead of the campaign’s launch.
Taking to X, CM Rekha Gupta published a video message giving a call to Delhi residents to join the Yamuna Cleanliness Campaign, and highlighted that keeping our rivers clean is a collective responsibility.
