Ahmedabad Rural Police have arrested a 25-year-old Muslim man from Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, for targeting a 17-year-old Hindu girl by pretending to be an unmarried Hindu youth named “Sonu” on a messaging app. Police identified the accused as Bittu Khan alias Bittukhan Rahishkhan, who is already married and has a daughter. A case has been registered at Kanbha Police Station under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Information Technology (IT) Act.
Friendship turned into blackmail
Police said the girl, who is from Ahmedabad Rural and studies in a hostel at Vallabh Vidyanagar, came in contact with the accused through a chat messaging app in February 2026. After gaining her trust, he shifted the conversation to WhatsApp. Over the next few months, he repeatedly pressured her to join nude video calls, meet him alone and have a physical relationship. When she refused, he threatened to circulate her private photos on social media, damage her reputation and even claimed he would end his life and mention her name in a suicide note.
The accused also managed to get access to the girl’s Gmail and Instagram passwords and kept track of her online activity. Police are also looking into claims that he shared her mobile number with others.
Real identity exposed
The case took a turn when the girl came to know through one of the accused’s acquaintances that “Sonu” was actually Bittu Khan from Gwalior. When questioned, he admitted his real identity and told her he was married but claimed he was seeking a divorce.
Under constant threats and mental stress, the girl finally informed her mother, who approached Kanbha Police and filed a complaint.
The accused was arrested in Gwalior
A joint team of Kanbha Police, the Local Crime Branch and the Aslali Division, under the supervision of DySP Nilam Goswami, tracked the accused through cyber and technical surveillance. He was arrested in Guda Gadewala Mohalla in Gwalior.
During the investigation, police found that Bittu Khan was also in contact with four other girls through the Achat app and are checking whether they were targeted similarly.
