25 Pakistani soldiers have been killed in two deadly attacks carried out by the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA). The outfit fighting for Balochistan’s liberation from the Pakistani regime reportedly claimed responsibility for the attacks on Thursday (3rd September) and later released a video of the offensive. The attacks took place in Pishin and Surab districts of Balochistan.

According to the Balochistan Post, BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch released a statement after the attacks, in which he said that BLA fighters attacked four Pakistani Army vehicles in a military convoy at Ziarat Cross in the Pishin district and destroyed two of them, including a truck. 18 Pakistani soldiers were killed in the attack, while five injured soldiers managed to escape. The BLA fighters seized weapons from the convoy. Jeeyand Baloch said that the attack was carried out by BLA’s Fateh Squad.
Notably, the Fateh Squad specialises in guerrilla warfare tactics and ambush attacks and operates mainly in Balochistan’s mountainous region. The squad was behind the hijacking of the Jaffar Express in Pakistan in March 2025.

BLA’s official media outlet, Hakkal, released a video of the Ziarat Cross attack, showing Pakistani Army trucks in flames and bodies of Pakistani soldiers lying around. In the video, some BLA fighters are seen standing near the bodies of Pakistani soldiers while others are seizing weapons from the trucks.

In the second attack carried out in the Hajika area of the Surab district, BLA’s Special Tactical Operations Squad (STOS) used a remote-controlled, explosives-laden vehicle to mount an attack. 7 Pakistani military personnel were killed in the attack, and one military vehicle was destroyed.
As per reports, the Pakistani military launched retaliatory attacks on BLA hideouts in Mastung, Sibi, Quetta, and Kalat districts of Balochistan. It claimed to have killed 50 fighters of the BLA and the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan.
The current attacks come amid intensified armed campaigns of the BLA against the Pakistani regime. Last month, the BLA claimed to have carried out 36 operations against Pakistani forces across different regions, killing over 33 personnel. Last year, the BLA launched ‘Operation Herof‘, in which it targeted key transportation infrastructure, including sections of the Karachi-Quetta highway and a railway station in Mastung, and killed over 25 Pakistani soldiers.
