Galgotias University brazens it out at AI Impact Summit, repeats the same lie that they never claimed to have made the robot dog, forced to vacate the stall

Galgotias University which has been asked to remove its stall from the ongoing AI Impact Summit 2026 in Delhi for presenting a Chinese robot dog as its own has claimed that it never claimed to have made the robot dog. The university said it was purchased in order for students to see cutting-edge technology firsthand, and denied any knowledge about being asked to vacate its stall.

“The controversy happened because things may not have been expressed clearly. I take accountability that perhaps I did not communicate it properly, as it was done with a lot of energy and enthusiasm and very quickly, so I may not have come across as eloquently as I usually do. Also, the intent may not have been properly understood,” asserted Professor Neha Singh.

“One important point is regarding the robot dog, we cannot claim that we manufactured it. I have told everyone that we introduced it to our students to inspire them to create something better on their own. Our university contributes to building future leaders by providing cutting-edge technologies in the field of AI, and it will continue to do so,” she added.

While the professor is claiming that she never claimed that the university made the robot, that is exactly what she had claimed earlier, which triggered the controversy. She had claimed that the robot, which they named ‘Orion’, was developed by the Centre of Excellence of the university.

Notably, in a now-deleted DD India video from the program at Bharat Mandapam, Professor Neha Singh of Galgotias University was seen stating that the robotic dog was developed by the “Centre of Excellence” at the university.

The Chinese Unitree robodog was thus rebranded as ORION and displayed as part of the university’s AI driven Centres of Excellence and infrastructure. However, the truth soon emerged, leading to severe backlash against the institution. The university then resorted to cry victimhood in the name of “negative propaganda campaign.”

As the university refused to leave the summit, claiming that they had not received any evacuation order, the lights at the Galgotias University pavilion were turned off by the authorities. But the university’s representatives kept insisting that they didn’t do anything wrong and they are not leaving.

The professor insisted, “I do not have any information about that. What I know is that today we are all present here,” concerning whether the institution was ordered to leave the exhibit area by the government.

However, the university was eventually forced to leave the summit after earning international ridicule for itself and for India. As per the latest reports, the Galgotias University staff and officials have vacated their stall at the India AI Impact Summit expo after power to the stall was cut. A security guard deployed at the venue confirmed that the stall has been shut down on the order of authorities.
