Amazon Web Services (AWS), Amazon’s cloud computing division, reported disruptions to its Bahrain region on March 24, 2026, over drone hits in the area.
Reuters has reported that the outage is due to drone strikes in the area, marking the second incident affecting the Bahrain facility within a month. Earlier in March, drone attacks directly hit two AWS sites in the United Arab Emirates and damaged a Bahrain facility through proximity blast effects, causing structural damage, power outages, and water damage from fire suppression efforts.

“As this situation evolves, we request those with workloads in the affected regions continue to migrate to other locations,” AWS has stated that it is actively assisting migrations to alternate regions while recovery efforts continue.
Earlier this month, AWS data centres in the UAE and Bahrain were hit by Iranian drones, causing service disruptions and damage at the respective facilities. On March 1, the cloud unit of Amazon, AWS, confirmed that power to its data centre in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was temporarily shut down after a fire erupted at the facility, with some ‘objects’ striking the facility.
The war in West Asia, where the USA and Israel had been targeting Iranian military installations, leading Iran to retaliate hard, had disrupted global trade and continues to threaten security and civilian lives in the Gulf region.
