Iran’s IRGC threatens to attack American Universities in West Asia saying strikes on Tehran destroyed two universities

Iran’s powerful military force, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, has issued a strong warning saying it could target American universities operating in the Middle East. The threat came on 29th March, after Iran said recent US-Israeli strikes had damaged two universities inside the country.

In a statement shared by Iranian media, the Guard said the United States must officially condemn the attacks on Iranian universities if it wants its own institutions in the region to remain safe. It set a clear deadline, asking for a response by 12 noon on 30th March. The statement also carried a warning for people linked to these campuses, advising staff, teachers, students, and even those living nearby to stay at least one kilometre away.

There are several American universities with campuses across the Gulf region. These include Texas A&M University in Qatar and New York University in the United Arab Emirates, making the situation a matter of concern for many in the region.

The warning follows airstrikes that took place between the night of 27th and 28th March in Tehran. One of the key sites hit was the Iran University of Science and Technology, located in the northeastern part of the capital. Reports said some buildings were damaged, but there were no casualties.

The latest development has added to the already tense situation in the region, with fears that such threats could further increase risks for civilians and institutions operating far from the immediate conflict zones.
