A similar case to the Ketan murder case has now come to light in Haryana’s Gurugram. Police have arrested a 25-year-old man and his girlfriend for murdering his wife just three months after their wedding.
According to police, the accused husband, Ankit, planned the murder with his girlfriend, Rajni Devi, so they could continue their relationship without any obstacle.
The case began on 22nd May when the victim’s mother filed a missing person complaint at the Manesar Police Station. She told police that her 22-year-old daughter had married Ankit, a resident of Manesar, in February this year.
According to the complaint, the young woman went missing on 21st May. Her family searched for her and also contacted her in-laws, but they did not get any clear answers. Suspecting that her husband and his family might be involved, the victim’s mother approached the police, after which an FIR was registered.

During the investigation, police recovered the woman’s body from a room in Manesar on 22nd May. Officials said initial findings showed that she had been shot dead. After this, murder charges were added to the case, and the investigation was stepped up.
Police say husband and girlfriend planned the murder
Police later arrested Ankit and his girlfriend, 38-year-old Rajni Devi, who is a resident of Jhajjar district in Haryana. Investigators said Ankit runs a tobacco shop in Manesar, while Rajni worked at a beauty parlour in the same area.
According to police, the two had been in a relationship for the last three years. During questioning, investigators found that the murder was planned in Rajni’s rented room. On the day of the incident, Ankit brought his wife there, where the two accused shot her dead.
“The weapon used in the crime was purchased from Uttar Pradesh around two months before the murder. We believe it was bought specifically to carry out the killing,” police said.
Accused fled to Nepal after the crime
Police said that after the murder, Ankit and Rajni first escaped to Haridwar and later crossed into Nepal to avoid arrest. They remained there until returning to India on 30th June.
The Crime Branch team arrested both accused soon after their return. They were produced before a court, which sent them to five days of police custody.
“Questioning of both accused is continuing. We are trying to recover the weapon used in the murder and collect more evidence related to the case,” police said.
