28-year-old Diogo Jota, who played as a forward for Liverpool Football Club and Portugal national team tragically passed away on Thursday, July 3, in a road accident. Jota was accompanied by his brother at the time who also lost his life in the accident.
Spanish outlet Marca reported that Jota dies around 00:30 on July 3 in a road accident along with his brother.
The car of the brothers, a Lamborghini, left the road due to a tyre blow-out while overtaking another vehicle and then caught fire leading to the death of both brothers.
Jota’s brother André Silva is also a professional footballer and plays for the Portuguese second division club Penafiel.
Jota won Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, and Champions League with Liverpool, and also won UEFA Nations League with Portugal twice.
