A 30-year-old Pakistani man, who had fled Greece after murdering his live-in partner in Larissa, has been arrested after more than 2 years on the run. As reported by Greek City Times, the Pakistani national was held in the Netherlands and then extradited to Greece. He is currently being held in Larissa prison.
In September 2022, Ioanna, a 35-year-old Greek woman who was the mother of a child, was found brutally murdered in the basement flat she shared with the Pakistani man, her then-partner. Ioanna’s head was crushed with a blunt object and her body was wrapped in a duvet on a mattress. The mattress was reportedly the only furniture in the scant basement flat.
Ioanna had earlier reported the Pakistani man for domestic abuse, but the local authorities had not taken any action on the Pakistani man. Ioanna’s body was discovered after a week, in a decomposed state.
The Pakistani was already under restrictive orders after multiple drug-related crimes and had to appear at a police station regularly. However, that did not prevent him from committing murder.
This is one of the multiple cases of murder and violence by Pakistani men in Greece. In 2022, a 17-year-old girl named Nicoletta was brutally killed by her Pakistani immigrant boyfriend Ahsan. The Pakistani later told police that he killed Nicoletta because she spoke derogatory words about Islam and Mohammad during an argument.
