PM Narendra Modi writes letter to Hindu pilgrims going on Amarnath Yatra, urges them to make 5 resolutions: Read what are they

Dear devotee,

Har Har Mahadev!

Jai Baba Barfani!

To participate in the sacred Amarnath Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir is a matter of immense good fortune in itself. With the first puja held on the day of Jyeshtha Purnima, the sequence of darshan of Baba Barfani begins for the devotees. Pilgrims from every corner of the country remain eager to participate in this holy journey.

Every year, this opportunity for the direct darshan of Baba Barfani is a highly auspicious and unforgettable experience in the lives of lakhs of Shiva devotees. On this occasion of the yatra this year, I extend my heartfelt best wishes to all of you.

This journey for the darshan of Baba Amarnath is an eternal chapter in India’s spiritual yatra tradition. Every year, lakhs of pilgrims from all over the world who follow the Sanatan Dharma reach Jammu and Kashmir to participate in this yatra. People coming from different provinces, speaking different languages, and following diverse traditions complete this yatra with the resolve of having the darshan of Mahadev.

For the past several decades, the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board and the Jammu and Kashmir government have been managing the yatra with great efficiency and a spirit of service. Along with this, our administration and security forces also play a massive role in ensuring the safe completion of the yatra. This year too, thousands of companions are fulfilling this responsibility.

On this occasion, I heartily commend the Indian Army, CRPF, Jammu and Kashmir Police, ITBP, BSF, NDRF, doctors and staff associated with health services, administration officials, sanitation friends, and every companion engaged in the service of the devotees.

During these two months, a wonderful form of ‘unity in diversity’ of India is also witnessed in the holy abode of Baba Barfani.

This yatra to the abode of Baba Barfani also showcases the hospitality of Jammu and Kashmir and the dedication of devotees coming from across the country. In every organisation of the yatra, thousands of local citizens of Jammu and Kashmir cordially welcome the pilgrims. Innumerable devotees coming from different parts of the country also operate bhandaras (community kitchens) and langars along the holy cave and yatra routes. This spirit of selfless service is a living manifestation of our Sanatan culture and the ideal of ‘Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah’.

This year, I urge all pilgrims going on the Amarnath Yatra to take a few resolutions:

  • First Resolution – We should follow the rules of cleanliness during the Amarnath Yatra and contribute towards maintaining cleanliness along the entire yatra route.
  • Second Resolution – We must follow all the orders of the administration, traffic rules, and security-related instructions with complete dedication. During the yatra, take special care regarding slipperiness and cold caused by rain.
  • Third Resolution – With the spirit of ‘Vocal for Local’, spend at least 10 percent of the yatra expenses on purchasing local products. This will also give strength to the livelihood of the families and youth of Jammu and Kashmir.
  • Fourth Resolution – On the concluding day of the Amarnath Yatra, i.e., on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, gift a sapling to your brother or sister and take forward the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ (A Tree in the Name of Mother) campaign.
  • Fifth Resolution – With the spirit of ‘Nation First’, let us honestly follow our duties throughout the year and make our active contribution to the building of a Developed India (Viksit Bharat).

I am confident that the Amarnath darshan yatra will be completed as a grand festival of faith in Sanatan Dharma, India’s cultural unity, and the tradition of service.

I pray that the infinite grace of Baba Amarnath remains upon all of us. May your journey be safe, auspicious, and may it infuse new energy, new consciousness, and new spiritual power into your life.

May Baba Barfani make us all even more dedicated to our duties, so that together we can realise the resolve of a Developed India.

My heartfelt best wishes to all of you for the Amarnath Yatra.

Yours,

Narendra Modi
