Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust announced on Saturday (13th December) the plans to construct a memorial in memory of the karsevaks and the devotees who sacrificed their lives in the 500-year-long struggle for the Ram Temple. In addition to that, a temple will also be constructed at the place where Prabhu Shri Ram and His brothers were seated before the Pran Pratishtha.
The decision was taken during a meeting of the trust held on Saturday, headed by the chairmanship of Mahant Nritya Gopal Das. In the meeting, a discussion was held on various issues, including the programs for Pratishtha Dwadashi, the second anniversary of the pran-pratishtha of Lord Ram in the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple.
“The Trust has decided that, at the place where Prabhu Shri Ramlala, along with His brothers, was earlier seated before the Pran Pratishtha, a Mandir will be constructed. Adjacent to this temple, a memorial is also being built in remembrance of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the Shri Ram Mandir movement,” the trust posted on X on Sunday.

During the protests demanding the construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya in 1990, a large number of Kar Sevaks were killed in police action on the orders of Mulayam Singh Yadav’s SP government. While Mulayam Singh Yadav confirmed that 28 people were killed, Hindu groups claim the number was much higher.
Most of the Kar Sevaks were killed in police firing on 2 November 1990, in an attempt to prevent them from reaching the Babri structure. Another firing took place on 30 October.
The trust informed that it was decided during the meeting that the programs for Pratishtha Dwadashi will be held at Angad Tila. The programs will include the recitation of Shri Ram Katha and musical and cultural programs. From 27th December to 31st December, Mandala Puja at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, along with a musical Akhanda Parayan of the Shri Ramcharitmanas, will be organised.
“Bhajan संध्या be performed by renowned singers Shri Anup Jalota, Shri Suresh Wadkar, and Smt. Tripti Shakya. In addition, other cultural programs, including a Kathak dance drama, will also be organised. Poets will also participate in praising the virtues of Prabhu Shri Ram, for which a Kavi Sammelan will be organised,” the trust added.
In a further announcement, the trust said that around 400 workers, who were involved in the construction of Ram Mandir, will be honoured on the occasion of the Hindu New Year, in a ceremony to be held on 19th March.
On November 25, 2025, PM Modi hoisted ‘Dharma Dhwaj’ atop the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya in a grand ceremony, marking the completion of the temple.
