French President Emmanuel Macron has decided to formally recognise a Palestinian state during the United Nations meeting in September this year. However, the French President’s decision has not gonbe down well with United States of America and Israel.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio called the decision reckless and said that this is a slap in the face of the victims of October 7 terror attack orchestrated by Hamas.

This reckless decision only serves Hamas propaganda and sets back peace. It is a slap in the face to the victims of October 7th.
Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also condemned the move. He said that the move risks creating another Iranian proxy, just as Gaza became, and it would be a launch pad to annihilate Israel — not to live in peace beside it.
On Thursday, July 24, Emmanuel Macron announced the plan to recognise Palestinian state in a bid to end the war in Gaza. France will become the first major world power to recognise the Palestinian state with this decision.
