Days after controversy over TMC MP Mahua Moitra allegedly smoking an e-cigarette inside the Lok Sabha, the BJP has accused Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Kirti Azad of smoking an e-cigarette in Parliament.
On 17th December, BJP IT Cell chief Amit Malviya shared a video on his X handle, showing Kirti Azad concealing an object in his hand and moving it towards his mouth.
Malviya wrote, “The TMC MP accused by BJP MP Anurag Thakur of vaping inside Parliament is none other than Kirti Azad. For people like him, rules and laws clearly hold no meaning. Just imagine the audacity, hiding an e-cigarette in his palm while in the House! Smoking may not be illegal, but using it in Parliament is entirely unacceptable. Mamata Banerjee must clarify on her MP’s misconduct.”

This comes after BJP MP Anurag Thakur informed Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla that some TMC MPs were continuously smoking e-cigarettes in Parliament.
Thakur asked, “Is smoking e-cigarettes allowed in Parliament?” The Lok Sabha speaker clarified that smoking is not permitted in Parliament and that appropriate action will be taken if such a case arises. Earlier, TMC MP Saugata Roy was also caught smoking e-cigarettes outside the Parliament complex.
