Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday unveiled development projects worth more than ₹489 crore in Fatehpur, inaugurating and laying the foundation stones for 125 works. During the event, he lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for introducing the National Education Policy (NEP) and for bringing in a stringent anti-exam malpractice law, describing both as transformative measures for the country’s youth.
Addressing a public gathering, Adityanath said the NEP has equipped Indian students to compete globally and created new avenues for their future. Congratulating the Prime Minister, he said the Centre had restored confidence among young people by introducing reforms aimed at strengthening education and ensuring fairness in examinations. He welcomed the proposed legislation against paper leaks and exam fraud, calling it a major step in safeguarding the aspirations of students.
The Chief Minister reiterated his government’s zero-tolerance policy against those involved in examination-related crimes, warning that anyone attempting to jeopardise students’ futures would face strict legal action. He said such offenders would be sent to jail and their illegally acquired properties would be confiscated, adding that the state had already acted firmly against these “education mafias.”
Launching a sharp attack on the Samajwadi Party, Adityanath alleged that examination scams flourished during its tenure and claimed that transparent recruitment under the BJP government had enabled more than nine lakh youths to secure government jobs. He further accused the opposition party of prioritising contracts, leases and illegal land grabs over public welfare.
Referring to an alleged land encroachment in Lucknow, the Chief Minister claimed that land acquired by the BJP during the Ram Janmabhoomi movement in 1990 had been illegally occupied by a former Samajwadi Party MLA. He said the encroachment was cleared with bulldozer action on Friday.
Highlighting the BJP government’s development agenda, Adityanath said Fatehpur has witnessed significant progress through new medical colleges, schools and the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative. He asserted that development would continue without discrimination and expressed confidence that graduates from Fatehpur Medical College would play a vital role in serving society.
Earlier this week, while addressing a gathering in Gorakhpur, the Chief Minister said Uttar Pradesh had generated large-scale employment through improved law and order, investment and the ODOP scheme. He also accused previous governments of stalling the state’s progress through riots, lawlessness and appeasement politics before 2017, while criticising opposition parties over their stand on the Ram Janmabhoomi movement.
