India till date has banned around 321 Chinese apps since 2020. Initially India blocked 59 Chinese apps, then 47 and later around 118 apps citing concerns of data security of Indian users.

The ministry further added there were security concerns associated with these apps that they could carry out surveillance activities and espionage by accessing camera/mic, GPS location and could indulge in malicious network activity.
