Drones and bomb disposal squads are being used to locate more possible bombs, and their presence has left people in nearby villages anxious and worried. Officials said that 9 live bombs were recovered from the house of a madrasa associate in the Khargram area. Similar recoveries were also made in Kandi, Shamsherganj, Domkal, and Lalgola, all located near the border.
The police suspect that the bombs could be related to ongoing political violence in the region or to illegal activities like cross-border smuggling. Murshidabad has often been in the news for such incidents, given its sensitive location next to Bangladesh.
Authorities have increased security across the district, especially after two people died in explosions in Domkal last month. The recent recoveries have led to a blame and counter-blame game among political parties, exposing the fragile situation in the region.
For now, the joint police-BSF operation is continuing with drone surveillance to ensure security and stability in Murshidabad.
