Kshatriyas and Brahmins are “thieves”; Muslims are our real voters: Old video of SP MLA Abrar Ahmed goes viral

The Samajwadi Party, infamous for catering to the Islamist vote bank, has once again come into the limelight due to a highly controversial statement made by one of its senior leaders. A recently viral old video featuring its late Isauli MLA Abrar Ahmed has surfaced on social media, revealing a profound animosity towards members of the Hindu community.

He referred to the Brahims and the Kshatriyas as “thieves,” declaring that he does not need their votes. He referred to Muslims as the real supporters of the party. The remark was made in 2021 in Sultanpur during the run-up to the Uttar Pradesh assembly election. The offensive comment resulted in major outrage against Ahmed and SP.

Demands were made to revoke his legislative membership, and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav was urged to expel him from the party. Ahmed served two consecutive terms in the assembly in 2012 and 2017, but was unable to contest the 2022 election after being denied a ticket. He died in 2023.

This is not the first instance of SP leaders targeting Hindu communities to appease their radical audience. Its spokesperson Rajkumar Bhati recently came under fire after he compared Brahmins to prostitutes, stating they are even worse, with a gleeful smile on his face during a book launch event on 5th May of this year. However, the severe backlash from the Hindu community forced him to offer an “unconditional apology” with folded hands.

Swami Prasad Maurya, who was in the SP in 2023, had accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led centre of “Brahminism” over inviting Adheenams for the inauguration of the new Parliament building. He wrote, “It is extremely unfortunate that only fundamentalist Brahmin gurus of the South were called in the installation worship of Sengol. If the BJP government had faith in India as a secular sovereign nation, then all the religious leaders of the country, such as Buddhist Dharmacharyas (monks), Jain Acharyas (sages), Guru Granthis, Muslim religious leaders (Maulana), Christian religious leaders (Pastor), etc., should have been invited.”

He further charged, “By not doing so, the BJP has shown its corrupt mentality and disgusting thinking. Although the BJP government is going on the path of monarchy by establishing the Sengol, it is also trying to establish Brahminism by calling the Brahmin religious leaders of the South.”

However, the government sources countered, “The allegations of Brahminism made by the Samajwadi Party are comical and reek of ignorance. These Adheenams are run by communities that come under backward caste and OBC categories. They have a rich history of Tamil literature that worships Lord Shiva. It is an insult to these holy Adheenams and to the diversity of Hinduism to make such comments.”
