On Sunday (12th April), Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public meeting in Siliguri in West Bengal. He vowed to free the State from the corruption and political violence of the Mamata-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) government and put a check on the illegal immigration of Bangladeshis.
“I have given a guarantee to free Bengal from infiltration and corruption and to restore trust in the system and the rule of law. The Bengal BJP has announced that a special commission will be formed to investigate political violence carried out by TMC-linked goons,” he emphasised.
The Indian Prime Minister reiterated, “People in North Bengal, including Siliguri, tell me that land mafias and criminals have made life very difficult for them. In a BJP government, every such mafia and criminal will be sent to jail permanently…”

He also assured the safety and security of women in Bengal through increased representation in the police force.
PM Modi pointed out, “To ensure the full safety of our sisters and daughters, there are plans to set up women police stations and women help desks in every block. The BJP government will also increase the recruitment of women in the Bengal Police”

PM Modi did not mince words before taking on the Tukde-Tukde gang, who wanted to sever the Siliguri corridor from the Union of India.
He stated, “Siliguri is also an important gateway for India’s national security…But remember, friends, for the sake of appeasement politics and vote-bank politics, what has the TMC done?”
