Delhi: Samskrita Bharati’s new national headquarters ‘Pranavah’ inaugurated on Akshay Tritiya by RSS chief Dr Mohan Bhagwat


Samskrita Bharati, the non-profit organisation associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), marked a milestone with the inauguration of its newly constructed National Headquarters, “Pranavah”, located at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg near ITO, New Delhi. The ceremony was held under the guidance of RSS chief Dr Mohan Bhagwat on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya on April 20.

Many dignitaries, including Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Prof. Ramesh Kumar Pandey (National President, Samskrit Bharati), Suresh Soni and Praveenkant of the Samskrita Bharati Trust, Delhi, along with many scholars and well-wishers.

A traditional Puja and Havan was followed by the formal unveiling of the Sanskrita Bharati emblem, and marking the new headquarters ‘Pranavah’ open.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Bhagwat elaborated on the profound meaning of “Pranavah”, symbolizing the sacred sound Om, which represents the essence of universal consciousness. He emphasised the significance of inaugurating the building on Akshaya Tritiya, a day symbolising eternal prosperity and auspicious beginnings. He highlighted that this new headquarters will serve as a pivotal centre for accelerating Sanskrit teaching and learning, contributing not only to the cultural and intellectual resurgence of Bharat but also to the global promotion of Samskrit.

Dr Bhagwat also remarked that Samskrit is not merely a language, but a carrier of samskara (values) and a refined way of life, essential for shaping a harmonious and enlightened society. The ceremony also featured a video message of blessings and congratulations from the revered Sringeri Sharada Peetham, along with a congratulatory message from the Prime Minister of India.

Speaking on the occasion, Samskrita Bharati’s Rashtriya Sangathan Mantri Jayaprakash Gautam reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to its vision of promoting Sanskrit across the nation. He stated that Sanskrit Bharati aims to teach Sanskrit to at least 10% of India’s population in the near future, as the organisation approaches 50 years of its inception.
