A shocking incident has come to light from the Thakurganj area of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, where a seven-year-old Hindu girl studying in Class 1 was raped by her 60-year-old Muslim neighbour, Mohammad Shakeel. Police have arrested the accused and registered a case against him under several sections, including the POCSO Act.
According to the girl’s family, the incident took place around 12:30 pm on Friday, 29th May. The child was playing outside her house when Mohammad Shakeel approached her and offered her biscuits. Trusting him, the girl went with him to his house located nearby.
A youth’s suspicion helped save the child
A local young man reportedly noticed the accused taking the girl inside his house and then shutting the door. When the child did not come out for a long time, he became suspicious. He first knocked on the door, but nobody responded.
As his concern grew, the young man entered the house through the roof. Inside, he found the girl and immediately rescued her.
After being brought home, the frightened child broke down in tears and told her family what had happened inside the house. The family then rushed to the Thakurganj police station and lodged a complaint against the accused.
Acting swiftly on the complaint, police arrested Mohammad Shakeel near his residence. The girl has undergone a medical examination, and further investigation is underway.
Police officials said that a case has been registered under relevant sections of law, including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and the accused is currently in custody. The investigation is continuing to gather all facts related to the case.
