The Delhi High Court has ordered the government’s Grievance Appellate Committee (GAC) to decide within 15 days whether to remove a controversial YouTube video by Dhruv Rathee.
The video, uploaded on the AAP propagandist Dhruv Rathee’s channel in March 2026, titled “Can Hindus Eat BEEF? Kerala Story 2 EXPOSED,” claims that Lord Ram, Sita, and Lord Krishna consumed meat and alcohol, which petitioners say hurts Hindu religious sentiments.
“Along with the criminal complaint filed against Dhruv Rathee for his defamatory video targeting Bhagwan Shri Ram, Seeta Mata and Bhagwan Shri Krishna, we have pursued civil remedies. A Writ Petition seeking directions to GAC to decide the appeal or removal of the offensive video has been approved, registered, and will now be listed before the Hon’ble High Court tomorrow”, Advocate Amita Sachdeva had posted on July 2.

Additional Solicitor General Chetan Sharma, appearing for the Centre, stated that intermediaries like YouTube must exercise due diligence. He described Dhruv Rathee’s video as disparaging and one that hurts the sentiments of the majority community. Google’s counsel informed the court that they will comply with the judicial order.
Sachdeva’s petition, registered as a writ under Articles 226 and 227, names the Union of India (MeitY), the GAC, Google/YouTube, Dhruv Rathee, and the Delhi Police as respondents. In a related development, a magistrate has directed the SHO of Cyber Crime Police Station, Saket, to file an Action Taken Report by September 10, 2026, on the criminal complaint.
