An Indian-origin techie was shot dead by her husband in the United States. The deceased was a senior engineer at Google, while their son was injured during a domestic dispute at their home in Georgia.
The incident took place on Tuesday night, 7th July, at the family’s residence in Cobb County. According to local media reports, police officers arriving at the scene found the couple’s son, Jason Wrzesien, outside the house suffering from gunshot injuries. He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, although officials have not shared details about his condition.
When officers entered the house, they found 57-year-old Sheetal Wrzesien with gunshot wounds. She was declared dead at the scene. Police sealed off the area for several hours as investigators examined the house and gathered evidence.
Authorities said Sheetal’s husband, Kirk Wrzesien, was taken into custody at the scene without incident.
Investigators believe the shooting happened following a domestic dispute inside the house. However, officials say the exact reason behind the incident is still being investigated.
Kirk Wrzesien has been charged with murder, two counts of aggravated assault and two counts of illegally possessing a firearm while committing a crime. He is currently being held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.
Sheetal Wrzesien was a senior engineering leader at Google and had spent more than 20 years working in the technology industry. Before joining Google, she had worked on major mobile and digital projects for The Home Depot and played a role in expanding the company’s online business.
Born and raised across England, India and Ghana, Sheetal later moved to the United States and earned a degree in Computer Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1994. Colleagues and professional associates remember her as a passionate mentor who actively encouraged more women to pursue careers in science and technology.
