The Modi government is likely to table five new Bills during the upcoming Eighth Session of the 18th Lok Sabha, which begins on 21st July and ends on 21st August. The Bills include the Income-tax (Amendment) Bill, 2026, the Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Amendment Bill, 2026, the Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Bill, 2026, the Prevention of Insults to National Honour (Amendment) Bill, 2026, and the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Amendment) Bill, 2026.
Two Bills, viz. the Income-tax (Amendment) Bill, 2026 and the Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Amendment Bill, 2026, will replace ordinances. The Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Amendment Bill, 2026, seeks to raise the sanctioned strength of judges in the Supreme Court from 33 to 37 (excluding the Chief Justice of India) to facilitate the speedy disposal of pending cases.

The Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Bill, 2026, seeks to amend Section 13(3) of the original 1969 law (which was amended in 2023) to streamline the registration of births and deaths and make the rules on the delayed registration more stringent. The Prevention of Insults to National Honour (Amendment) Bill, 2026, will amend the 1971 law for tougher action against acts that disrespect national symbols or undermine national honour. And lastly, the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Amendment) Bill, 2026 bill is aimed at promoting ‘ease of doing business’ and trust-based regulations in the MSME sector.
In addition to the five Bills, the government is also likely to present two pending bills, namely, the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill 2026, which was introduced in the Lok Sabha on 25th March and the Viksit Bharat Education Establishment Bill, 2025, which was introduced in December 2025.
Notably, the ‘Delimitation Package’, including the Women’s Reservation Bill, which was defeated by the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, has not been listed for presentation during the Monsoon Session.
