Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) is significantly expanding its ground transport network ahead of the upcoming winter flight schedule, offering passengers a wider choice of buses, taxis, autorickshaws, car rentals and airport shuttles connecting the airport with Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Pune and other parts of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
The winter schedule will be in effect from October 25, 2026, to March 27, 2027. The airport, operated by Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), is scaling up public transport connectivity as passenger movement is expected to increase during the period.
MSRTC to launch e-Shivai services from October 7
The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) will begin electric e-Shivai bus services from NMIA on October 7. In the first phase, buses will connect the airport with Dadar, Borivali and Pune.
The fares have been fixed at ₹170 for Dadar East, ₹210 for Borivali and ₹450 for Pune. Children below 12 years and women travelling with a National Common Mobility Card will be eligible for a 50% fare concession.
The Dadar service will travel through Sion and Atal Setu, while the Borivali route will connect NMIA with CSMIA Terminal 1, Bandra and Atal Setu. Two daily services will operate between Pune and NMIA, with one scheduled in the morning and another in the afternoon.
Connectivity to Thane and Nashik is expected to be introduced by mid-November.
21 daily Chalo Bus services
Private bus operator Chalo will operate 21 daily services connecting NMIA with key destinations in Mumbai, including Marol in Andheri East, Bandra, Dadar and the World Trade Centre in Colaba.
Services will operate at regular intervals during both peak and non-peak hours, while additional capacity will be deployed during periods of higher passenger and employee demand.
Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport (NMMT) is also operating seven dedicated airport routes, designated A1 to A7. These services connect Terminal 1 with Kharkopar, Targhar, Belapur, Nerul, Panvel, Khandeshwar and the Airport Project Office.
Buses on the Belapur and Nerul routes will operate every 15–20 minutes during peak hours. Further connectivity to Vashi and Panvel is also planned.
More taxis, autos and rental cars
Passengers will have several on-demand transport options at NMIA. Uber will provide both Uber Go and Uber Premier services, along with Uber Auto for shorter journeys.
Prepaid taxis and autorickshaws will also be available, while passengers can opt for car rental services.
Bharat Taxi is set to begin operations at NMIA from October 10 with a dedicated fleet of up to 40 vehicles.
Free hourly shuttle between Mumbai’s two airports
One of the key additions to the airport’s ground connectivity is a complimentary inter-airport shuttle between NMIA and Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA).
The shuttle, operated by Cityflo, Aarya and Chalo, will run once every hour, providing passengers with a direct transfer option between the two airports.
This service could be particularly useful for passengers travelling on connecting flights from one airport to the other.
Ground transport capacity being increased
NMIA is also substantially increasing its overall ground transport capacity. The combined capacity across app-based taxis, car rentals, autorickshaws and buses is being scaled up to 4,594 vehicles.
This includes 3,787 app-based taxis, 184 rental cars, 171 autorickshaws and 547 buses.
The airport is deploying dedicated mobility zones, passenger assistance, signage and wayfinding systems to streamline movement between arrivals, departures, buses, shuttles and private vehicles.
Road, rail and metro connectivity
NMIA is connected to major road corridors including Atal Setu, the Sion-Panvel Highway, Palm Beach Road, Amra Marg (NH-348A) and NH-548.
Passengers can also access the airport through the suburban railway network via Panvel, Targhar and Bamandongri stations. Navi Mumbai Metro Line 1 is already operational, while the proposed Mumbai Metro Line 8 is expected to provide a direct metro link between CSMIA and NMIA.
The airport is also working with Adani Total Energies Gas (ATGL) to accelerate the development of electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
With the winter schedule approaching, the expanded network is aimed at giving passengers more affordable and convenient alternatives to private vehicles while improving last-mile and inter-airport connectivity to NMIA.
