Investigators probing the Red Fort explosion have uncovered a staggering blueprint behind the attack, a fleet of 32 vehicles quietly assembled for what sources describe as a multi-stage “revenge operation” timed for December 6, the anniversary of the Babri structure demolition.
Among the cars chosen for the plot were familiar models like the Maruti Brezza, Swift Dzire, Ford EcoSport, and the Hyundai i20 that blew up near Red Fort earlier this week. Officials say the group deliberately picked older, frequently resold cars to muddy the ownership trail and slow down police tracking.
So far, four of these vehicles have been traced. The Brezza turned up inside the Al-Falah School of Medical Sciences and Research Centre in Faridabad, a location now under intense scrutiny for its alleged role as the hub of the terror network.
The EcoSport, found abandoned late last night in Faridabad with a young man asleep in the back seat, has also been seized. The Swift Dzire was intercepted earlier, with an assault rifle and ammunition hidden inside.
The Red Fort blast itself claimed 13 lives, after the i20, reportedly packed with a potent mix of high-grade explosives and ammonium nitrate fuel oil, detonated.
Preliminary evidence suggests the explosion may have gone off before the attackers intended, possibly triggered by Umar Mohammed, the terror module member identified as the driver.
